Gov
Sir,
With reference to my confidential despatch of the 13th August, I have the honour to inform you that with
the advice of the Executive Council I have dismissed the
Sikh Lance-Sergeant of Police, by name Surja Singh, for
making a false report concerning the presence at the Sikh
Temple on the 30th of July of certain Government servants;
and for having been convicted by the Police Magistrate
recently for stealing a small quantity of vegetables from
a Chinese hawker. It was reported that the Lance-Sergeant
was in the habit of taking vegetables without paying for
them and a watch was set upon him with the result that he was caught in the act. Surja Singh will be sent to India at Government expense, and the authorities there will be
informed.
I have sent a copy of this despatch to the
Governor of the Straits Settlements.
I have the honour to be,
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
ANDREW BONAR LAV, M.P.,

Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
ваз
